Would you like to be the Roger Federer of Goal Achievement?
For sure have you heard talking about Roger Federer, the greatest Swiss tennist of the moment. Roger have been able to beat the best and keep a long winning streak for a while, more than 7 professional tournaments and still on the winning streak.
But more importantly is not how much he has won but how? What does Roger Federer have that others don’t?
Is it because he is talented?
Is it because he has better strategies and skills than their opponents?
Or maybe it is all in his head? (Discipline, Attitude)
It is all Mind and Attitude:
Attitude produces better overall results than strategy and analysis. Of course the ideal situation is to have both.
Most athletes never reach this level of play, because they never get past the fear of making a mistake. Athletes who reach the point where there is absolutely no fear of the consequences of making a mistake will usually, enter into what is called “the Zoneâ€.
You cannot easily get into this mental state as it is quite close to just “let go†and “let it be†and it comes and as soon as you try to force such a state you are just popping out of it.
Not only that, but you need to be disciplined enough, self-controlled enough to be able to get in “the Zone†when you need it and then hold up there for as long as you need to.
Every one of us, maybe unconsciously have lived this sensation whether its out of luck or faith but the point is that it is key to achieve your goals.
Recklessness after Winning Streaks:
If you are not strong enough to control your emotions after a winning streak you might be poised to lose, the psychological effect of winning so much thanks to your great mental state and all the building pressure that surround you because of the “image†people are holding from you can make you collapse and this is the “Acid Test†for anyone.
I wonder for how long will Federer be able to keep being as good as he is, with this I am not referring just about losing one play but overall and over time. Will he end up in drugs just like many of other great tennists? Or will he be strong enough and make the right choice? Only time will tell…
But at the moment, I am very impressed by his great ability to control himself and keep pushing forward to be the best.
The point I am trying to make is that winning in any endeavor is mostly a function of attitude in conjunction with a sound business plan.
So look forward to build that great Winning Attitude and show me what you are able to do!
