12 Ideas to Discover your writing Style and Match it to your Personality

Posted in Personal Skills by Gustav S on the October 1st, 2007

When I first started this blog I thought that if I was to write about important things that will make people grow and If I wanted to be taken seriously I should write in a serious way like if I were doctor Growth, but, after a couple of months of doing that I just noticed that I was not feeling good and I was not really enjoying the process of reaching people.

I have spent a lot of time writing all kinds of documentations. Over time I have noticed that as for how each person writes you can make some deductions on the personality of this person.

Some people love to write extremely serious and in a completely boring way, others love to make extremely organized paragraphs, some love to just type and type to see what is coming out of their brains or heart and so on.

I think a major secret and something that people really value is honesty in your writing, leaving away the hype and let the people decide what is what they want to do. In other words, just show the river and let them do the drinking.

I do know that for some reason which even though I would like to say that I understand (I do not really) I have some easiness to make people understand and reach their hearts, I think it is mostly because whatever I decide to do it is on a good will basis and I put a lot of effort to help. It is installed in my chip, if I do not feel like to help or if there is something I do not like I just don’t do it, so in the end I just do stuff that I love to do. So if you see me doing something rest assured that all my intentions and focus are 100% directed to that something.

Hey! It seems that I am giving away another Secret to Success:

Whatever you decide to engage to, just do it because you have a burning desire to do it. If you are doing it just for another obscure reason (like Money) rest assured that you will fail, because you will lack the required consistency to reach your goal.

If you really want people to know you and to see who you really are you just have to write like who you are, this will just bring the right persons to you, because they will feel matched to you. You do not have to force yourself to write like someone else, there is a lot of people around the world and the ones who like your writing style and the way you understand things will stay with you and others will just go ahead to find that person who feels like it.

It is the very same thing as doing friends, “you are not a gold coin, so everyone likes you”, your vibrations, your way of thinking will attract just those friends who are right for you, that is why it is always said: “Tell me with whom you hang out and I will tell you who you are”. That is completely based on the Law of Attraction. As you can see you have been living with the Law of Attraction longer than you thought even if you do not like it or believe it.

Well, just back to the purpose of this article:

In order to make you understand what I mean let’s analyze my writing style to see what we can learn from it:

1. I like to give some theoretical information before I get deep into the subject.
Making people understand the roots of your ideas or what did motivate you to write such a thing is always helpful, it is kind of a warm up in order for people to understand where are you getting into.

2. I like to explain the WHYs.

Giving reasons for my way of thinking is always something I like, it is some sort of proof giving to the reader in order to better understand the subject.

3. I like to write as If I am talking to You
This always shows up in my writing, because I tend to be a very expressive person in order to make my message reach you. Even though I am limited with text at the moment I write I imagine myself how I would have been behaving at that moment.

4. I like to show what kind of emotions I am feeling at the moment I am writing something
That is why, I like to use emoticons, because it shows if I am being serious, joking or just playing with your thoughts a little and makes it more fun when you are learning.

5. I like to make Lists
I feel that sometimes we need to have checklists or an ordered way to let people know all the important points that surround the subject you are discussing, I have noticed that lists are the favorite among my readers and almost everyone in the blogosphere and I can understand why, it is just easy to go through it and get the information.

6. I like to give lots of personal experience examples

That is something I like to do, If I am talking or writing about something is because I have made some experience around that topic already and these experiences have modeled my way of thinking about that specific issue, I do even know that giving examples helps a lot more than a lot of theoretical stuff. ( Like in Mathematics ;) )

7. I like to make some conclusion or closure
It is always important for me to conclude with the End Point of the whole discussion in order to make the point clear.

8. I like to do all I can to make my wisdom reach you
This is very hard, because it depends a lot on you and if you are ready or not for what I am telling you but I always try to give you something that you might not yet understand because you might not be ready but when the moment comes and once something clicks inside you, you would say: “Oh my God, I once read or heard about that, he was right!”.

9. I like to feel that what I have decided to write will be of some value to someone.
If what I have just written is of value to at least one person then my goal is fulfilled, picking of something of value to someone is not that hard but hard is for YOU to understand that it could be of value to someone else out there.

10. I like to stimulate thought by not saying all the HOWs
It is easy to go ahead and let someone else tell you HOW to do this or that, great for sure there are some things that there is no point to try to reinvent the wheel, but when you are learning something that there are many ways to do it, you have to find your way that you are comfortable to do it, the way that works for you and this is really the highest challenge of them all and what makes you different from anyone else, again, it is all about creativity.

11. I do not like to repeat the subjects over and over again even though I know it is important
I have written 50 articles in this blog already and I have this personal feeling that I like to always be original and not repeat a subject again in a new article, but the reality is another one. We human beings need to be repeated over and over again the same thing in order for us to understand it. If we want something to click in our heads we need to do lots of repetition.

12. I just like to be myself
Show who you are and you will be fine as you will never need to fake anything or any feeling about it. You will always be consistent in your writing and enjoy of a relaxed journey.

Honestly, I have never been doing any kind of marketing course or have made any course on how to write for Success, but my way to write is extremely related with WHO I am inside, my personality, my life style, my way to understand life, so If you are reading this and feel identified with my way of writing you can understand that you like me as a person and my Success which is just a measure is coming from Inside me in this case my personality and gathered wisdom over time.

So again, FIND YOUR STYLE and you will FIND SUCCESS. :D (jejeje, there you go my conclusion ;) <- oh! and my emoticon).
