How to Find a Good Ebook and not another Scam trying

Posted in Personal Skills by Gustav S on the May 24th, 2007

Everyone talks about the great advantage the Internet have brought to our life, the fact that information is readily available for us to grab makes it the perfect weapon for those who have a nice ebook internet marketing strategy and think that can sell us the ultimate piece of information in ebook format.

This all access publishing network (a.k.a Internet) makes easy for anyone to put any kind of information and that have made of the Internet a jungle. And you as a good hunter have to know where you should make your next step in this jungle before you get scammed trying.

Even though I do not have a direct statistic about this I assume that at least 90% of the electronic Information that people is trying to sell to you will be completely useless and mediocre in its kind. How do I know that? Quite easy, considering that more than 90% of the people is not really “rich” in knowledge but just do what other say you have to do and the 10% of those who really have made their own work and effort in order to discover their “magic-formula” will NEVER really share it (and not even for 37$usd) the conclusion is quite clear: “There is too much Hype and no Content”.

- How come that you are selling your super amazing secret instead of just exploiting it for your own benefit?
- Since when, our whole world have become so altruistic?
- Why do you need to convince someone with a “sales-page” if what you have to offer is completely genuine and already making 1000s of people millionaires?

Please do not get me wrong, I know there is a lot of great information around and there are also great people who are really willing to share their successes with you, but again they are a small minority and they are all mixed up with the majority (hypers) and also using the very same ebook internet marketing strategy , so you need to know how to filter when you are looking for certain ebook or information.

Another important thing to consider is that the Internet is always in constant change, consider the new Web 2.0 approach, which is directly related with give away information in exchange for you to visit my website or blog periodically which that translates into a strong user base and also revenues in advertising. Just as the music business model needs to adapt to the new era of P2P (peer to peer) and look for a way to make the most of it, the same is true about the ebook and all related marketing strategies that surround information, it is time for a change, adapt or die.

How to filter out your search for information when you are looking for an ebook so you reduce your scam possibilities to a minimum. Some people will really hate me because of this post ;)

Since the first thing you need to do is to read the sales page take in the following recommendations:

1. Do not eat the HYPE bait

The first thing that will ever happen when you first reach an ebook sales page (notice that it is called “sales page” ) is that they will throw big, red, all caps, too good to be true titles so you get all excited that you found the holy grail of all times, obviously they know that if you are reading that is because you are already looking for that information, so that is why it is so easy to convince you that what they have is the “holy grail”. Just relax and be skeptical.

2. Try not to go in every single detail of the sales page

Once you start reading try to do some sort of quick reading, do not focus too much on what you read because marketers have very good writing strategies to make you want to buy, in other words do not let all the hype go to your head.

3. Beware of all the marketing tricks and strategies that surround the information or ebook

Internet marketers have become very good at manipulating your desperation and desires for information, the fact that you are already wishing to have some sort of “secret” to leverage yourself is already leveraging their ability to turn you in a sucker, oh oh sorry I meant customer. You will find out all kinds of tricks like, newsletters, videos, guarantees and so on.

4. Read the “100% Iron Clad, you always win Guarantee” a couple of times

This is a game of wording, these guarantees are written in a way that makes you believe something that is indeed not exactly what you thought it was written there. You might end up that you do not really qualify for the guarantee just because of the wording.

5. Watch out for FREE BONUSES

Another marketing strategy is to fill you up with lots of “free bonuses” so they can raise the value of their already mediocre content. Why would you want to have all those “free bonuses” if what you are really looking for is the information you are paying for?. The trick is that they make you feel that the price you are paying is small compared with all what you will receive. A good thing to distinguish is if these bonuses are also material produced by the same author in order to enhance your experience with the new material written, for example you might be getting as a “free bonus” an excel spreadsheet calculator which you will need to facilitate your work from what you have read on the information you bought, those free bonuses could be seen as a good sign of quality.

6. Try to find out the very same information for FREE

Use google to run search queries on many of the features of the information or ebook found in the sales page, you will be amazed how much free information you will get. Many of those called ebook authors just go and browse the whole net for information, compile it and then sell it.

7. If you decide to BUY the information, wait at least one day.

It is a good strategy to go to sleep and wake up fresh in the morning before doing any buying, many ideas might come up to your head and all the hype you had to read will just disappear, YOU DO NOT NEED TO ACT NOW, the information will still be there for you and even more if it is not as good as they claim it is ;)

Due Diligence

8. Read the testimonials

The most important factor to measure the quality of an ebook is by reading testimonials, in my experience on of the best ebooks I have ever bought had over 100 testimonials posted on their sales page and if I look up today there is even more testimonials added (they even added a testimonials archive). When people buy information and is really delivering in terms of quality of content and achievement they automatically need to write the author about how great the information was and how it helped to change their lives. If you do not see too many testimonials or they see way too “well written” then you know it is a little bogus.

9. Email the author of the ebook

Do not just buy because you read a couple of testimonials, also prepare a couple of coherent questions about the information and ask the author for even MORE testimonials or for an archive of testimonials so you can browse them. Also ask the author if it is possible for him to ask someone who have bought the ebook to share the testimonial directly with you. Do not buy the “privacy policy” kind of answer because if the author is good willed and really have nothing to be afraid to then he/she will help you get the testimonial. Judge the answer of your email in terms of quality and willingness to share details, when something is bogus they will have the kind of “if you do not buy then it is your loss” answer for you.

10. Do some Google searching and look for reviews on the information or ebook?

If the information have been long enough online, for sure lots of people would have already bought the ebook and will review it somewhere and post some information about the content of the ebook on the internet. Here is where our little friend google can help us find more. Just write some search queries using the domain name of the website which is selling the ebook or information, you can also try to add some extra info to the query like “review” and then look for the search results, look very deep in the results do not just check for the very first 2 or 3 google pages but as deep as possible until something shows up.

An example of a query would be:
“ebookdomain.com reviews”
“ebookdomain.com scam”
“ebookdomain.com ”

If nothing shows up, then consider it suspicious, maybe the ebook or the information is quite new in the market and thus is better to wait until someone finds out about it instead of us being the first to eat the bait.

11. Try to find out since when is this website or ebook online

This is where this step comes handy, to know for how long is the ebook or information online can shed some light and help you put some pieces together.

In order to that you will just need to go to a Whois service by just typing whois in your google search box or try this one:
http://www.whois.net/

ebook

Once you are there just fill the first box with the domain name and click GO. You will be returned with a list of information about the domain name including the creation date and expiration date.

ebook internet marketing strategy

Doing some research or due diligence is the smartest way to avoid getting scammed or just finding out that what you bought could have easily been found for FREE elsewhere on the net (Ouch!). Just spend some time looking for it and then let it all settle down.

So before you buy the next:

Secret “Weapon” That IS The Fastest, Strongest, Yet Simplest Way To Getting Everything You Want, Including MORE Love, Power, Money, Revenge, Status, Fun, Health And Popularity Into Your Daily Life…

“xxxxx That Have Been Secretly Exploited for More Than 10,000(!) Years Have Finally Been Exposed First Time Ever”

Just do not forget to do Due Diligence first ;)
