Balance your Selection Criteria Habit
Many times you will find yourself having a lot of difficulty achieving your goals, some other times you will find yourself achieving your goals but not feeling satisfied as you might expect.
The human mind is used to create habits, habits are a way for the brain to mechanize repetitive processes and save itself time and energy. During our lifetime we develop many habits, some of them very good for what wish to achieve and some of them detrimental. This is a selection criteria writing so expect to get a little bit fiber touched
There is a very interesting habit that from my experience will always hinder your success and it is the Criteria habit. What I mean is that sometimes we are used to limit our goal achievement but putting some conditions or criteria around it. Very common is this one: “ I want to have a girlfriend/ boyfriend, but I want him/ her to be like this:
AND HERE GOES YOUR LIST!….. “
Normally I do not like to bet, but if you are fully dominated by this habit, I bet that list of yours is describing something that is not human at all…
with that I mean a super ultra perfect person, that will just surmise to all your wishes and so on.
No wonder why you have not found a partner yet!
, and this applies to all aspects of your life, this is just a habit that will leak all over your aspects of life. Some people do not have a job or have not found the right investment because of their extreme selection criteria and conditions that must apply in order for them have what they want.
Obviously the same applies to the other extreme, you might find yourself having no selection criteria at all, where whatever comes you take it, underestimating you and your skills. No wonder why you are so unsatisfied with your goals.
Beautifully enough and that is the main reason why I really put a lot of emphasis on Balance on my Blog, is because again it is all about Balance and Harmony. If you have not yet read all about Balance and Harmony please go and read it.
It is all about Balance, you need to achieve your balance and ease or strength your selection criteria depending on which extreme you are located. For that I recommend to have in mind the following ideas:
1. Know your-self and your limits
It is very important to know who you are, know your limits, what do you reflect to other people, recognize your habit and work through it. You need to bow to yourself and be humble, understand that many times you need to adapt in order to have what you want. Let it flow.
2. Be realistic
Sometimes watching the reality you have created which is the one that you are living in the now can be very hard, that does not mean that you cannot change it, but at this point it is important for you to be realistic and by knowing yourself and your limits you can much better assess what kind of criteria and conditions you are allowed to have. You cannot ask for a extremely hot supermodel when you have never ever put a step in a gym to take care of yourself. You cannot ask to be a Top Manager or CEO of a recognized company if you have just gone to the University and learned about 2 or 3 formulas for good management, and so on.
3. Selection Criteria are not just random wishes but they should be assesed
The whole idea for a balanced criteria and conditions lies within you, you need to assess yourself and find what is what you can get. Depending on how well balanced your conditions are is directly proportional to the probability of reaching your goal. The more balanced the higher the probability, the more to the extremes the less the probability. It just like a bell graph, when you reach the middle point, you have the highest probability to achieve your goal.

Notice for a moment that you do this selection criteria process for everything you do, even for buying a sandwich.
Case Scenario: Selection criteria samples
You are looking for a sandwich, you wish for a big subway kind of sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, roast beef, mayonnaise and ketchup. Could happen that Subway is the only store open at the moment and you might need to wait 4 hours for other restaurants to open.
You go to Subway, you ask for your desired sandwich and it happens that there is no roast beef, but instead of roast beef there is Turkey Jam.
What would you do?
Your answer to this question will speak a lot about yourself and where are you in the extremes.
Providing you like Turkey Jam and you decide to leave and wait 4 hours to get the sandwich you want, it could be that you too strict with your conditions and not willing to lower your standards.
If they tell you that there is no Mayonnaise, no Ketchup, no Roast beef and only Tuna which happens that you do not like it at all and still you take the sandwich, then obviously your way too flexible and willing to accept whatever they throw at you.
If you would have just picked the Turkey Jam sandwich even without Mayonnaise (in the case there was not Mayo) would have also been quite a good example of fine tuning your standards and not really hurting your success to achieve this goal of eating a nice sandwich in subway. If you are asking yourself why not Mayonnaise, quite easy its bad for your health
To conclude, check with yourself and be honest with you, change this and you will be back on track to success.
